Level 2 Instructing Exercise and Fitness: Apprenticeship or NVQ

Will be suitable for you if you are an exercise and fitness instructor and are capable of planning, delivering and evaluating a series of sessions independently.
In planning the sessions you will be drawing largely on routines and approaches that have been devised by others, but will be choosing and combining them in a way that meets the needs of your participants.

Prerequisites:
Depending on your experience and current job role you will usually need to have a Level 1 qualification in Gym Instruction or another industry related qualification.

Units include:
  • Deal with Accidents and Emergencies
  • Evaluate coaching sessions
  • Support participants in developing and maintaining fitness
  • Plan and prepare a group exercise with music session
  • Plan and prepare a gym-based exercise session
  • Plan and prepare a water-based exercise session


The NVQ element of the Apprenticeship program consists of five units; three mandatory units plus one optional grouping- all are delivered and assessed in the workplace.


Level 3 BTEC Specialist Diploma Personal Training: Apprenticeship or BTEC

The Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training is for learners who work in, or want to work in the sports, leisure and recreation industries as a personal trainer.

It gives learners the opportunity to:

  • develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attributes essential for successful performance in working life
  • achieve a nationally-recognised level 3 qualification
  • achieve a licence to practise
  • develop their own personal growth and engagement in learning

 

Prerequisites: 

Learners must have achieved the Level 2 Gym Instruction


Units Include:

  • Unit 1: Health, Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment
  • Principles of Exercise, Fitness and Health
  • Know How to Support Clients who Take Part in Exercise and Physical Activity
  • Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise and Health
  • Programming Personal Training with Clients
  • Delivering Personal Training Sessions
  • Applying the Principles of Nutrition to a Physical Activity Programme

 


Instructing Exercise and Fitness (Level 2)

Apprenticeships also include the following Qualifications: 

  • Functional Skills Maths
  • Functional Skills English
  • Employement Rights and Responsibilities Awareness Certificate
  • + another approved Technical Certificate such as Active IQ Certificate in Instructing Fitness (GYM)

 
In most cases our programs are funded by the government or the European Social Fund and so our training is
 FREE
