For apprentices wishing to work in painting and decorating
within the construction industry, this qualification is ideal for demonstrating their competence. It is a measure of their
ability to carry out a range of work to criteria which has been set by the industry, and is recognised by the Construction
Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) and will enable them to gain the CSCS Blue Card.
This is a Framework qualification that confirms competency in working in wood occupations. The apprentice will learn how
to conform to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace, how to conform to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
and how to move, handle and store resources in the workplace.
can then specialise in preparing surfaces for decoration, applying paint systems by brush and roller, applying standard papers
to ceilings and walls, producing specialist decorative finishes and applying paint systems by HVLP spray.
There are no minimum entry requirements for this qualification – anyone over the
age of 16 that is seeking to demonstrate competence in working in wood occupations can take this qualification.

This qualification prepares an apprentice for work in the
construction industry, with a specific focus on Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting. Upon completion they can apply
to CSCS, or other industry card schemes, to gain a skills card that will enable them to work on site in the chosen trade.
The apprentice may also wish to progress to become a supervisor working on site.
